Unique 19th Century Louis XV Style French Inlaid Table With Gilt Bronze Mounts. Beautiful late 19th century Louis XV style occasional table. Set on a base with curved legs of solid mahogany; ornamented with gilt bronze.

There is a lower shelf with a pierced gallery edging a display surface with four pieces of veneer each set at a diagonal to each other. The top of the table is a four sided "cloverleaf" design, with a recessed circular center. It is surrounded by four crescent shaped extensions, that are actually lidded compartments that are hinged on the outside.

The tops of these are veneered in an "optic" style pattern of contrasting light and dark woods. The sides of the compartments are mahogany with beautifully cast gilt garlands of laurel leaves. The center portion looks to have been either leather or a lacquer-type surface that was varnished over when the piece was restored and refinished.

The piece has been fully professionally refinished within the past couple of decades, with a French polish finish used to bring the surface to a glossy sheen. The legs are excellent, and aside from one small minor repair, have no issues; no cracks, breaks or re-glued pieces. The pad-style feet are without issues as well. The compartments and their lids are solid, and they close levelly and without any sign of warping. The mounts are all intact, and aside form minor bends and unevenness, they are excellent. The central circular area shows old cracklature to whatever it is faced with, but the new layers of polish even it out. The hinges are original, as is all the metalwork.

The widest point of the top is 19.25 across. The width of the "knees" where the lower shelf sits is appx. The height of the lower shelf off of the ground is 9.
