Antique French 950 Sterling Silver Cobalt Blue Glass Louis XVI Type Salt Cellars

  
Presented is an antique pair of French silver and glass salt cellars or dishes made during the 19th century or early 20th century, circa 1880 to 1915. The silver portions are 950 purity silver, which is actually higher than 925 sterling silver purity. The silver bases are beautiful decorated with cherubs, columns, ribbons and festoons of fruits and flowers. This is a very decorative pair, done in an 18th century, Louis XVI style. The cellars come with their original, cobalt blue glass liners. This set is in great overall condition, especially for its age.

There is a seperation or split to one festoon of flowers on the side of both cellars, which is visible in the 2nd photo. This is the original seam. As you can see in the photograph, this flaw is hardly noticeable. Each glass liner has a tiny chip along its rim, as you can see in the last photograph. Dimensions: 3 by 2 1/8 by 1 3/4 inches.

There are no hallmarks, which is unusual for French silver, but happens. The style is certainly French, and I really do not see this set being made anywhere else. We have tested the silver and guarantee it to be high grade.
