There are multiple supersized pictures at the bottom of the description please take a look. This desk is very special and really exceptionally rare. Ill talk you through the details and there are many mostly around security. As you can see the desk is solid Rosewood which is an exceptionally hard timber. All drawers have the original keys. The large main drawer lock is a thing to behold, if you turn it to the left, the main double locks go up, turn it again and they go up another level, turn it the other way twice and they both go down, you can then pull the whole drawer out and the desk top slides backwards, turn the lock again to the right and it unlocks the two side clasps holding the front of the drawer in place. This lock has been stripped cleaned and serviced as is working perfectly. Inside you have a lovely home office bureau with green leather gold leaf embossed tooling. Everything looks exactly as it should do. Under this main drawer you have two smaller drawers one either side, the left drawer is one long standard drawer, the right drawer has another drawer inside which has the original lock and key, this would have been used for cash. This desk is simply put amazing, it is just mind blowingly amazing, the pictures dont come close to doing it justice, I have never seen another of this type anywhere, in all my years and with a considerable amount of internet research, nothing has come close to this piece in design or quality. The desk comes with a vintage Carte Verte which is a green card, Rosewood is now an endangered species, you can only transport it internationally if you have proof the timber is post 1970 I think it is, this desk has that documentation included.
In terms of the condition structurally its perfect, aesthetically there are some small patina marks here and there, it is around 160 years old so we can forgive it.
