Rare antique French 18th century master violin made by Louis Guersan in Paris, 1745. Fine antique Parisian master violin made by Louis Guersan, probably the most celebrated French violin maker of the 18th century. The top is made of two parts of spruce, and shows narrow and regular grain lines.

The back is made of two parts of nicely flamed maple, the curl descending from the center joint. The ribs are of the same wood. The head has been changed circa early 19th century and grafted. The beautiful varnish is of an orange-brown color on a golden ground, typical of that maker and period.

The violin had different repairs on the top, which have been professionally and artistically restored, including a doubling of the top inside. The head shows bushings of the pegs holes, also very nicely made.

This instrument has been entirely revised and set-up, including a new bridge, a new soundpost, a new set of heart-shaped pegs, a new tailpiece and chinrest, and a set of Evah Pirazzi strings. On the inside back can be found the original label. The instrument is guaranteed 100% original and authentic.
