These are honestly the finest of the finest pair of bronze triple lamp sconces we have found- They date from circa 1860-70 and have been electrified. They came from a beautiful Chateau in the South west of France The bronze casting is finely detailed and originally would possibly have the brightest ormolu applied, this has since faded in most places - but they have retained a natural aged bronze gilded patina which is just heavenly.
They are in the style of Louis XVI with scrolls, entwined cord ropes and, acanthus leaf decoration - at the top is the styling synonymous with Louis XVI a tied, trailing bow. They are completely authentic and have never been on the market previously, they came from the most elegant of homes here in France- they have the original wood bulb supports, and milk glass candle covers. They are fully working and fully compliant with French electrical standards.
They attach to the wall with a bracket on the reverse. The bulb holders take 6 standard E14 bulbs - chandelier bulbs.
Max height /length 21.25 /54cms. Max width 10.5 / 26.5cms. Depth from wall 6.75/17cms. NB WEIGHT UNPACKED 4 kilos EACH - TOTAL 8 kilos together or almost 17 lbs!!!
Condition- Superb antique condition - No damage, breaks or repairs - Both fully working. 6 milk glass candle covers all in good condition, Patina - they would initially be gilded, this has worn over 150 years - but overall they still have a charming golden patina. We would always recommend that antique lighting is checked by an electrician - a qualified electrician will then be able to ensure that they comply with your local electrical regulations.
