Lyre Clock Louis XVI Style Stunning Candelabras Mystery Clock Antique French

  

R are antique French Lyre clock with exquisite ormolu (finely gilded bronze doré). What makes this clock rare is that it is complete with it's original candelabras. The candelabras are modelled on classical urns with masks and swags applied to the bodies and fragile. The foliate arms with leaves and rose buds.

The dial is with painted floral swags between the numerals and a name that appears on the dial. The fine lyre shaped gilt brass hands are original..

A paste jewel set bezel surrounding the clock forms the mystery pendulum, as the clock ticks the jewelled bezel moves from side to side. The movement has initials impressed see picture 11. The clock is lyre shaped after Louis XVI designs, in white marble with the best gilded bronze mounts. On the top of the clock is a sunburst motif with a swag draped below.

Beautiful white marble lyre shape case, gilded bronze ornaments. This is a quality and rare clock. The clock is very fragile and not so easy to find the correct beat as it took me a while so patience and a very level flat surface is required.

When ticking the jewel set bezel surrounding the clock which is the pendulum will move a tiny bit left and right. Please note the marble is much whiter than shown on the pictures here as I was experiencing poor lighting conditions. Clock will be sent separate from the candelabras, 2 packages to avoid damage.

The bronze attachments around the clock and candelabras are thin and very fragile and must be avoided when holding the clock as they may come free or catch as they have sharp ends. Clock height is around 35cm. Candelabras are 37.5cms across. This product is located in The Netherlands. Dutch VAT Margin Scheme applicable.
