Japy Frères Ormolu and Sèvres Porcelain Clock. A stunning original antique French clock by the famous maker. It is Louis XVI in style, mounted with exquisite Sèvres style porcelain. This has a cream ground delicately painted a scene of a young couple. The urn finial also has a beautifully painted country scene.
The dial is porcelain and is painted with a cherub above the clouds with a basket of flowers, allegorical of love. It is complete with its original finely cut brass hands.
The bezel is fitted with convex glass. The French movement is of high quality and is by. It is in excellent clean and running condition having been fully overhauled by our clockmaker. It runs for 8 days and strikes the hours and halves on a sonorous coiled gong. Condition of the case is excellent, the original gilding is beautifully clean and bright with hardly any wear or discolouration.
Porcelain is in very good condition with rubbing to the over-glaze gilt decoration, particularly to the dial. Clockmaker's mark on the movement backplate.
