For sale is a circa 1910 American gold gilded French Louis style picture frame. We believe this frame to probably be an early non-corner splined Newcomb Macklin picture frame due to the pencil inscription and the Newcomb Macklin model number of 78085 written on the reverse In pencil. This frame is a sturdy gesso over wood constructed frame.

The frame is wonderfully gilded in an original gold metal surface. No noticeable touch ups or restoration to the gold surface. The frame has some gesso chip loss to upper corners and gesso age shrinkage seam lines along the rails and corner joints. Overall a fine antique frame (See All Pictures). Would look wonderful around an American impressionist painting or a portrait painting(which it formerly framed).

Would be a an absolute stunner with a piece of antique mirror glass. In a desirable standard size. Frame - 38 5/8 x 33 1/2. Rabbet - 30 1/2 x 25 1/2.
