You see her young, and she was circa 1750 when she sat for this portrait, in her beautiful blue gown and that opulent large pearl tiara set into her powdered hair. She was a contemporary to King Louis XV, likely knew King Louis XIV at least as a figure of her world. I have collected these and history so long, there's a sense of knowing her.

Yet, the artist did not sign, there is no ID attached. She is frozen in time just as you see her, in her tuck-pleated bodice with lace and that tiny waist cinched with a black belt and buckle. The only real adornment, the extra large pearls of her tiara. Well, and her pleasant smile and gaze. Knowing all that was coming in the decades ahead in France, one can't help but wonder what became of her and her future. Very good to excellent condition for age and type. The wafer is perfectly flat, perfectly preserved, no chips and no hairlines, protected for nearly 3 centuries now in the old mount and beneath convex cover glass. Measurements noted on the photos.
