Antique Napoleon III era French sterling silver teapot. Patterned with fluted foliate motifs, rocailles and gadroon borders. Engraved with a monogram of interlaced initials WB or BW.
Elegant curved handle and spout richly decorated in foliage, resting on four ornate feet. Hallmarked with the French Minerve 1st standard mark in use from 1838, which guaranteed the finest quality French sterling silver of. 950/1000 95% silver and higher grade than the standard. His son-in-law Auguste Boyer joined him in 1865 with his own hallmark, then joined him in 1867 under the name of Boyer and Callot. Under this name, the workshop continued at least until 1939. Measures 10 1/2" length from handle to spout x 7 7/8" height. Condition: General wear/scratches commensurate with age and use.There is play to the handle and hinged lid, dents to the feet.
