Antique late 19th century French. 800 silver luncheon knives, set for 18. Richly enhanced in gilt vermeil finish. Featuring a Gordian knot pattern to the handles.
Hallmarked at the ferrules with the French Minerve 2nd standard mark, which depicts the goddess Minerva with a number 2 beside her to denote a silver content of. The handles bearing silversmith marks for Lucien Louis Bouclier, active 1886 to 1889. The blades are silver, also with gilt vermeil finish, blades are hallmarked with the French Minerve 2nd mark for. 800/1000 silver content, with symbol of the assay office in Châtellerault, bearing the cutler mark of initials CL. In overall good antique condition with general wear commensurate with age and use, a couple of hollow handles having indentions.
