Antique French Sevres Louis Philippe Chateau de Tuileries cabinet plate 1846

  

Judging by the markings on the underside, it is produced in the very famous Royal Porcelain Manufactory of Sevres, France (green mark LP for Louis Philippe with production year 1846, blue circular mark with Louis Philippe initials, word Sevres 1846 and crown, and mark of Chateau de Tuileries). In the 19th century the royal castles (chateaux) in France were procured with Sevres porcelain pieces, but very often the pieces were not enough for when big receptions have been hold at the castle. In those cases one castle (chateau) was lending some of its pieces to another one. So the piece has been given a Chateau mark for inventory purposes.

Beautiful ivory scalloped rim, decorated with gilded border, pale blue bow, doves and pink roses in six cartouches, also framed in gold, garlands with pink and yellow roses. Central part depicts wonderful romantic scene of a beautiful young woman, sitting on the ground, being serenaded by a young suitor, in an apparel of the time in vivid colours, painted in an exquisite way.
