In the eighteenth century (1740/1790), the binet and the barrel formed a single piece which is molded in two parts. The shaft ends with a screw thread. In the nineteenth century, (1800/1890) the methods change. A threaded rod hidden in the barrel connects the 3 parts together. The binet is equipped with a thread that serves as a nut and stiffens all the parts.
