Recently acquired from a local Maryland estate. An Antique Miniature Original Watercolor Portrait Painting Of Louis XVII King of France.

Louis (XVII) (born March 27, 1785, Versailles, France-died June 8, 1795, Paris) son of King Louis XVI (Executed in 1793 during the French Revolution) and Queen Queen Marie-Antoinette. The framed original art work measures approximately 4 3/8" by 3" and appears to have been exceptionally well cared for. As a result, the piece remains in excellent vintage condition with no breaks, cracks, damage or issues. With that said, there is some minor accumulations of dust around the perimeter of the slightly convex glass which covers the work. Not being an antique art expert, experienced dealer or collector I did not want to jeopardize the overall integrity of this work and therefore did not risk opening the frame.

While I did examine the piece rather carefully, I was unable to locate a signature. Some photographs were taken indoors and others outdoors which is responsible for any deviation in color.

Louis XVII was born in 1785 and was the titular king of France from 1793. He was the royalists' first recognized claimant to the monarchy after his father was executed during the French Revolution (as the older brother had died at four years old). Louis XVII died at the age of ten as the result of Tuberculous.
