Antiques straight from source offered at best price. Chudleys are based in the UK & USA. The good quality Louis Philippe period commode, mahogany carcass with a dark grey white veined marble top over a typical continental arrangement of a frieze drawer three long matched drawers and a concealed frieze drawer in plinth , the whole standing on block feet and surviving from the second quarter of nineteenth century France. Condition : This commode is unrestored The condition proves sound overall. The drawers glide smoothly, the whole piece sturdy and in original order. The feet are original, whilst the brass escutcheons are original there is one missing The key not original works the lock for the top drawer and acts as the pull for the remaining drawers. There is some old sporadic woodworm to the flanks, back-boards and feet which have been treated as a precaution and it has not proven to be effecting the pieces stability or much of its aesthetic. The front has some mild sun bleaching the whole piece would benefit from a re - polish. As often with these commodes there are shrinkage gaps to both side panels The marble top is without fault.
