Special note: See our other listings for 8 additional lots of this material. Description of item for sale: This very old panel was salvaged from a 17th century French chateau. We date the panel to the period of Louis XIV or possibly early Louis XV. At 3/4 thick, it is fairly thin considering the panel size but quite flat because it is expertly crafted from old growth oak.
Note the hand tool marks on the front and back surfaces. The panel is mounted in a frame that is held together with pegs. The edges of the frame are unfinished and there is a small cutout in the edge of the frame. The panel and frame are in very good condition considering their age, with various small chips, scratches, etc.
There is no woodworm or dry rot in this panel. Dimensions: 17" wide, 35" tall and 0.75 thick. Special note : See our other listings for 8 additional lots of this material.
