On offer here is this beautiful pair of 1950s/60s French carved gilt wood. Armchairs with original silk material. Height to top of back 90cm. Seat height 45cm seat depth 48cm. This beautiful pair of chairs were made in France some time between 1950 and 1960. It is typical of Louis XVI style popular in France at this time. They have original gilt finish. The material is all original and is high-quality silk upholstery fabric. All of the panels of upholstery are kept in place with pins.

Framework of the chair is carved in lovely detail with classical floral decoration and with scrolls and then they are guilded in gold leaf. I will add that I have sat in the chair and it is comfortable. I also have the three seater sofa that came with the chairs which I will be offering separately, this listing is just for a pair of chairs.

They are a fantastic looking pair of pairs not look out of place in any house in the country and would bring a lot of style in the home. They are in very good condition. The structure of the chair is solid in fact there's not even any play in the arms it is very sturdy.

The wear and tear on the chair is minimal and in keeping with what I would expect and like to see for this period of time it suits the atmosphere of the chair, please check all pictures carefully.
