There is a stamped metal maker's mark attached to the frame of both chairs.
MEUBLES D'ART Anciens et Modernes. 3, Rue du President - Carnot. As a point of reference , a second version of A. Mark can be found attached to a far grander. SEE LAST TWO IMAGES OF SCREEN GRABS FROM THE INTERNET.
These hall chairs, still with their original caning and hand-crafted tapestry upholstery were sourced from Alfies Antique Market in Church Street in London's Lisson Grove back in the 1980s, and have been in a private collection ever since. Highly decorative, smaller pieces of furniture such as these are ideally suited to today's more compact living spaces, and would certainly look the part in a bedroom? Please note, one of the chairs display two minor cracks to the circular detail of the upright of the back. This is the condition it arrived in at us, we've made no attempt to restore.
