Up for your consideration is a exquisite 19th C. French etagere of unsurpassed quality, c. The piece is comprised of rare woods (rwood, bird's eye maple, kingwood, pecan) and a variety of exotic inlay woods.

The solid pieces are mainly rosewood. The piece is precisely inlaid on each of the three shelves, and the piece has extensive gilt bronze ormolu throughout. The solid rosewood legs have a fine fluted inlay.

The top opens to reveal an interior compartment with a mirror, and a bird's eye maple and rosewood interior. This is the only French etagere I have seen in this unique reniform (kidney) shape. Basically, no expense was spared in the making of this piece. The etagere measures 32" tall x 22" wide x 14 deep. It is in excellent condition. The top has a small restoration to the veneer, a 1/8" x 1/16" (less than a pencil tip) piece of missing inlay (see last photo), and a minor stain (in the form of darkness) on the top level. It presents beautifully, and these are very minor concerns, not something that one would notice. The lock on the top drawer does not have a key. The remainder of the piece is essentially free of flaws. The legs and joints are tight, without wobble. The extensive ormolu is complete, and the gilt is bright. The inlay is tight, and free of losses or loosening. Condition-wise, this is as good as it gets. Etagère is a piece of light. Which was extensively made in France during the latter part of the 18th century.
