1930s Art Deco Sculpture, Statue by Louis Albert Carvin, Bonne Garde Two German Shepards. This is a very nice Spelter Sculpture / Statue of two German Shepards, inscribed with the artists signature, L. Carvin and title Bonne Garde (Good Guard) on the spelter foundation base. Carvin, Lois Albert (1875 1951), was born in Paris, France and was principally an animalier sculptor, known especially for a natural depiction depicted in his works.

And was a member of the Société des Artistes Français, (an association of French painters and sculptors established in 1881). He exhibited his work at the Paris Salon from 1894 1933 and awarded the Medal of Honor in 1894. Carvin sculpted the work "The Muse of Aviation", a bronze trophy presented to Wilbur and Orville Wright on. By the Aéro-Club de la Sarthe in Le Mans, France. Another example of his Carvins work titled, Barzoi created in 1934, can be seen in Clamart (Paris), at the square de la Maison Blanche. The figures and metal foundation are cold-painted spelter mounted onto a richly-veined marble base. Very good vintage condition There are a few minor chips and nibbles on the marble base.
