1920's French Louis XVI Dressing Table w/ Inlaid Top & Interior Compartments. Beautiful vintage early 20th century dressing table, made in the Louis XVI style. Very simple elegant shape sits on elegant tapered legs, each with a stylish metal cap.

The top is decorated with inlay, the center panel being musical instruments, sheet music and flowers and ribbons. The two panels that flank it have floral motifs. The center panel lifts to reveal a beveled mirror and a white marble surface. The two flanking panels open to reveal storage areas, one is the full depth of the piece, the other is shallower, which allows an exterior drawer underneath.

The center has an additional pull-out surface and drawer. There is a key which fits into an escutcheon with a scrolled surround. It was not designed to lock, but provides a mechanism that "pops" the top up slightly when it is to be opened.

There are minor veneer repairs; on corners and edges, and some work around the hinges. Some fading to the finish, mostly on one side (see photos). Please note that the center panel would open and be supported by the wall behind it - the hinges were not designed to support the weight of the top by themselves. The side panels were meant to open to access the contents - they do not support themselves are do not provide an additional work surface. A fine and hard piece to find from the 1920's.
